Why Choose Powder Coating?

Powder coating is the future. Increasingly stringent environmental regulations, rising costs in all areas, and demands by consumers for better quality and more durable products make it the smart choice for a better looking, more durable finish.

Powder coating is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. The coating is typically applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a “skin.” It creates a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint.

Advantages of powder coating over conventional liquid coatings:

  • Powder coatings produce much thicker coatings than conventional liquid coatings without running or sagging.
  • Powder coated items generally have fewer appearance differences between horizontally coated surfaces and vertically coated surfaces than liquid coated items.
  • Capital equipment and operating costs for a powder line are generally less than for conventional liquid lines, passing the cost savings on to you!
  • Powder coatings emit zero or near zero volatile organic compounds (VOC).
  • Powder coating production lines produce less hazardous waste than conventional liquid coatings
  • Powder coating overspray can be recycled to achieve nearly 100% use of the coating.
  • Specialty effects impossible to achieve with other coating processes are easily accomplished with powder coating.

Versatility: The IFH Group can handle anything from small machined parts, vehicle chassis, large weldments such as tanks and trailers 8’x 8′ square x 20′ long and larger to a wide variety of special products. Contact us with your requirement or just walk in!

Pre-and Post-Treatment: The IFH Group will sandblast your part, chassis or weldment to ensure complete removal of oil, soil, lubrication greases, metal oxides, welding scales etc. prior to powder coating. After the powder is applied, the powder coated items are placed in a curing oven and heated to 400° to obtain the final tough, beautiful finish that powder coating provides.

Technology: Our use of the latest and best equipment such as the ITW GEMA OptiFlex™ manual powder coating system, which delivers fast turnaround and can change colors in as little as 30 seconds, ensures that your parts get coated right the first time, every time, just the way you want them.

Equipment

curing-ovenOur Encore™ Manual Powder Spray System provides unsurpassed operator control, coating efficiency and ease of use for an unprecedented level of coating performance on demand.

The Encore spray gun is the lightest and best-balanced gun on the market, making the painter’s job easier for more consistent and repeatable coating performance. The innovative Encore all-digital operator interface provides unprecedented control functionality and flexibility for optimum coating results with every part type and application challenge. This new and improved powder application equipment provides for a much quicker and more efficient color change. And these increased efficiencies result in savings that we pass on to our customers.

Our Prodigy™ HDLV Manual System uses high-density low velocity (HDLV™) dense phase pumping technology that ensures constant powder output over time – without the need for venturis. The powder cloud has high concentration of powder with very little air, creating a soft spray pattern and increasing transfer efficiency.
